Why do you enjoy working at Real Radio?

No day is ever the same here and we're a really close knit team.

What do you get up to when you’re not at the station?

I love cooking and every so often the results of my baking adventures end up on the newsdesk! I also like watching really bad American TV series like the Real Housewives of New Jersey. When I’m not doing either of those things you might find me reading a history book or going for a run.

Where is your favourite place in the North East?

You can’t beat a walk along the beach at Tynemouth followed by a trip to the priory. The view is absolutely fantastic!

Where do you enjoy eating in the North East?

The café at the Baltic is brilliant for a breakfast. Otherwise maybe Malmaison for a treat (and if someone else is paying!).

What music are you in to?

I’ll listen to most things…I’m very much a ‘one track off an album’ kind of girl.

Favourite film?

I’m not very good at watching films, as everyone in the office will agree (I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing), but an all-time classic is probably Calamity Jane.

What three items would you take on a desert island with you?

A Radio so I wouldn’t be bored; sun cream so I didn’t get burnt; and a phone so I could get home.

If you could go back in time which decade would you choose and why?

Maybe the 90’s? Perhaps I wouldn’t have gone to see the boyband 911 quite so many times….

What do your colleagues say about you in the office?

I make the tea too often.

Who would you most like to interview?

I’d love to interview the Queen. Can you even imagine the tales she’d have to tell?!

What’s the most memorable story you’ve covered?

It has to be the Royal Wedding. I was live on air when Kate Middleton arrived. It was an incredible experience to be part of such a worldwide and historic event. I also managed to accrue quite a large collection of memorabilia so I'll definitely be able to remember the story!

What advice would you give to someone wanting to be a radio journalist?

You have to really, really want to do the job. Listen to loads of radio and find out what you do like and don’t like. Get as much experience as you can and when you are on work experience don’t shirk the tea round! I worked for websites and in TV before I trained as a Broadcast Journalist and all the experiences were invaluable.
