Moncur was skipper of United's only successful European campaign when they won the Fairs Cup in 1969.

Incredibly, Moncur scored a hat-trick over the two legs against the Hungarian side Ujpest Dozsa.

United won the final by an aggregate score of 6-2.

Moncur captained Scotland 7 times as well as Newcastle and also played in the 1974 FA Cup final

His last games for Newcastle United was that 1974 FA Cup Final.

He then signed for Sunderland and skippered them to promotion in 1976.

Bob went on to manage Carlisle, Hearts, Plymouth Argyle and Hartlepool
