Running isn’t just for adults, it’s for kids too so why not get them involved in the Bupa Junior and Mini Great North Run on Saturday 18th September.

The events take place on the NewcastleGateshead Quayside with thousands of youngsters of all abilities pulling on their trainers for their big day.

The Bupa Mini Great North Run is suitable for boys and girls aged between 3 and 8 years following a 1 mile route. The Bupa Junior Great north Run follows a 3 mile course and is split into two separate age categories for youngsters aged 9 to 11 and 12 – 16 years.

All runners receive their event t shirt with their race number approximately 2 weeks before race day. Runners pick up their finishers pack after they have crossed the finish line which contains that all important finishers medal plus much more.

Bupa Junior Great North Runners are chip timed which starts when runners cross the start line and stops when they complete the course giving an accurate finishing time.

Other activities

There will be lots other activities taking place around the Quayside to keep runners entertained including the Bupa Great North Run Show which is open Friday 17th and Saturday 18th September and annually attracts over 120,000 visitors and runners.

This year the show will celebrate of all things Bupa Great North Run, showcasing 30 years of the largest half marathon in the world including: -

  • Celebrity Appearances: A range of activities and exhibitors will be supported by a number of celebrity appearances from sport, TV and Real Radio’s very own Barry the Bassett.
  • Activity Areas: A designated activity area will provide demonstrations and interactive sporting activities from a variety of disciplines throughout the two-day event.
  • Interactive Zones: Visit the interactive zones where sports governing bodies will measure your strengths and skills.
  • Pasta Party: The Pasta Party is your chance to get a head start by loading up on vital carbohydrates in preparation for your run, whilst enjoying some fabulous entertainment courtesy of the Real Radio DJ’s.

And not forgetting Competitions, Prizes and Give aways throughout the Show!
